This was also the fourth positive week in a row for the Daily Outlook, which is a reminder of the importance of staying consistent when following a strategy that has proven itself over time. Strong weeks are always encouraging, but the key to long-term success is not just having good trades. It is staying disciplined in both entries and exits.
This past week also highlighted an important part of trade management. On both Wednesday and Friday, the market continued significantly after we had already exited our trades. The options later reached nearly +400% on Wednesday and exceeded +1,100% on Friday. We captured excellent profits on both days, but we were out of the trades long before those maximum levels were hit.
That can be frustrating or confusing for some traders. Everyone wants to maximize profit in a trade, and of course we do as well. But our goal is not to capture the exact high of every move. Our goal is to capture strong gains while also protecting against fast reversals. With 0DTE options, waiting too long can turn a strong winning trade into a much smaller gain or even a loss very quickly.
A trader can always choose to use wider stops and give a position more room. There will be times, like this week, when that approach catches more of the move. But over the long term, wider stops also mean larger losses when the market reverses quickly. Our approach is built around consistency, not trying to catch every possible point of every move. We would rather exit with disciplined profits than hold too long and allow a winning trade to turn against us.
Weeks like this are a good reminder that successful trading is not about perfection. It is about following the plan, managing risk, and applying the same approach consistently over time. We stay disciplined in our entries, disciplined in our exits, and allow the results to play out over the long run.
We look forward to the week ahead as we continue trading SPX and SPY 0DTE options. The daily entries below are presented as a simple trade log showing the trading activity for each strategy. Times are referenced to the nearest 5-minute interval.
